Our Values
Leadership:
At Heart of Texas Christian Women's Job “Training” Corps® in Brownwood, you receive kind and caring attention from area volunteers. Our site is always evolving as the needs or our clients change and as new opportunities and resources arrive.
Teamwork: We make it our responsibility to get to know you through our mentor program. We work closely with you to ensure that the solutions we provide are tailored to meet your unique needs and challenges. We are committed to your success.
What happens in a typical CWJC program? Participants receive training in life skills and job readiness. Often computer skills are taught as well. Each ministry is customized to meet the needs of their community.
What makes CWJC/CMJC different from other job-readiness programs? Each woman is involved in Bible study. She is also matched with a trained Christian woman who will be her mentor as she travels the road from dependency to self-sufficiency.
Are we trained at CWJC sites? A trained coordinator leads each site. The ministry is built on the purpose of CWJC and eight key elements: certification training, advisory council, needs assessments, networking, covenants, evaluation, a mentor for every participant, and Bible study.
What are the goals for a CWJC participant? 1. Begin and/or grow in a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. 2. Complete job-readiness and life-skills program(s). 3. Attain self-sufficiency. 4. Give back to the program.
How is self-sufficiency defined? The purpose (to equip men and women for life and employment) is fulfilled when a man or woman has basic life skills necessary for self-sufficiency, within her culture, which may include: sustained employment; adequate income; housing; transportation; childcare; and/or medical care. We do not provide you with these things, our goal is to show you how to obtain them.
Does every participant get a job? Honestly, no. CWJC is a Christian life- and job-skills training program. No woman is guaranteed employment after completing a CWJC program. Each program does strive to prepare each participant for work in her community.
